The Rolex Yacht-Master, the emblematic nautical watch, embodies the privileged ties between Rolex and the world of sailing that stretch back to the 1950s. Sleek, sporty and distinguished, the Yacht-Master is just as at home on the deck of a yacht on the open sea as on land in an elegant yacht club lounge.
Rolex Yacht-Master – Recognizable bezel
The Yacht-Master is easily recognized by its bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel made of 18 ct gold, 950 platinum or a technical ceramic (Cerachrom insert). The raised polished graduations and numerals stand out clearly against a matt, sand-blasted background. This characteristic and functional bezel – which enables the wearer to calculate, for example, the sailing time between two buoys – plays a full part in creating the unique visual identity of the model.
Bracelet and clasp – secure and comfortable
The Yacht-Master models on metal Oyster bracelets with solid links are fitted with the ingenious Rolex-exclusive Easylink rapid extension system that allows the wearer to easily increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, for additional comfort in any circumstance.
The Yacht-Master in 18 ct Everose gold is equipped with the Oysterflex bracelet, developed and patented by Rolex. This technical bracelet, unveiled in 2015, combines in a singular way the robustness and reliability of a metal bracelet with the flexibility, comfort and aesthetics of an elastomer strap. At its core lies a superelastic metal blade that is overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer, a material that is particularly resistant to environmental effects and very durable.
All the Yacht-Master models are equipped with an Oysterlock safety clasp, developed and patented by Rolex, which prevents accidental opening.
Oyster case – symbol of waterproofness
The Yacht-Master’s Oyster case, guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet), is a paragon of robustness and reliability. The characteristically shaped middle case is crafted from a solid block of particularly corrosion-resistant 904L steel or 18 ct gold. The fluted case back is hermetically screwed down with a special tool that allows only Rolex watchmakers to access the
movement. The crystal, with a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock for easy reading of the date, is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire.
The waterproof Oyster case provides the Yacht-Master’s high-precision movement with optimal protection.
Perpetual calibres 2236 and 3135
According to its size, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master is equipped with calibre 2236 (37 mm version) or 3135 (40 mm version), two self-winding mechanical movements entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Their architecture, manufacturing and innovative features make them singularly precise and reliable.
The Yacht-Master’s movements are beautifully finished and decorated in keeping with the brand’s uncompromising quality standards.
Like all Rolex watches, each Yacht-Master is certified as a Superlative Chronometer. This exclusive designation attests that it has successfully undergone a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its own laboratories and according to its own criteria, which exceed watchmaking norms and standards. These tests are carried out on the fully assembled watch, in order to guarantee its superlative performance on the wrist.
