Since 2017 Rolex has been the official sponsor of the Academy Awards, the biggest awards event of the year.
The 90th Academy Awards will broadcast to 225 countries when they air this weekend, on Sunday March 4 2018.
Rolex has a long history in cinema via the appearance of its watches in countless iconic films. In 2017, the brand forged a partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, both as a sponsor of the Oscars as well as founding supporter of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which will celebrate the history of filmmaking through a collection of photographs, films, screenplays, posters and production design drawings. It is set to open in Los Angeles in 2019.

Celebrating Masters of Cinema
To celebrate the art of storytelling, Rolex gathered some of its Oscar-winning testimonees directors Martin Scorsese, James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow and Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Four legendary filmmakers, whose films have collectively won impressive 57 Academy Awards, shared their stories in a Rolex series „Celebrating Masters of Cinema“.
